About this list
The Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) is maintained by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) under the EU REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. Substances are added for hazards such as carcinogenicity, mutagenicity or reproductive toxicity (CMR), or persistence and bioaccumulation (PBT/vPvB). Inclusion triggers information and notification duties along the supply chain, and a listed substance may later move to the Authorisation List (Annex XIV). ECHA typically updates the Candidate List about twice a year.
