Category
Industrial Chemical
Compound Class
Halocarbon
Primary Use
Monomer for chlorotrifluoroethylene resins

Chlorotrifluoroethene is a colorless, flammable gas with a faint ethereal odor, shipped as a liquefied gas under pressure. It is very toxic by inhalation and can asphyxiate by displacing air; contact with the liquid may cause frostbite, and containers may violently rupture under heat.

Monomer for chlorotrifluoroethylene resins (e.g., Kel-F, Halar)Synthesis of high-performance lubricants, plastics, and elastomers
