DEUTERIUM OXIDE

Deuterium oxide, commonly known as heavy water, is a form of water in which the hydrogen atoms are replaced by deuterium, a stable isotope of hydrogen. It is primarily significant for its use as a neutron moderator in nuclear reactors due to the very low neutron-capture cross-section of deuterium, which allows efficient slowing of neutrons.
