Basic violet 14

Basic violet 14, also known as rosanilin, is a triarylmethane dye and the monohydrochloride of 4-[(4-aminophenyl)(4-iminocyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-ylidene)methyl]-2-methylaniline. It is a major constituent of Basic fuchsin and is recognized for its use as a histological dye and a fluorochrome, though it is also noted as a carcinogenic agent.
