Propene, also known as propylene, is a colorless gas with a faint petroleum-like odor that is typically shipped as a liquefied gas under its own vapor pressure. It is easily ignited, can asphyxiate by displacing air, and is used primarily as a chemical intermediate in the production of plastics and various chemicals.
