Matching connects you with a counterparty — it does not vouch for them. ChemAbout screens the chemical in every listing and request, but that is separate from verifying the company on the other side. This article covers what verification signals actually exist, where you see them, and what is still your own responsibility to check.
Two independent verification signals
ChemAbout supports two optional, independent verification checks on a company profile. Neither is required to register, list a product, or publish a purchase request.
- Registration verification. A company can submit its legal registration number and country. ChemAbout reviews the submission — manually or against an external registry — and marks it verified or rejected. The registration number itself is never shown to other users; only the resulting status is.
- Website verification. A company can verify it controls the website on its profile, typically by confirming a company email address on the same domain. This is checked independently of registration verification.
Where you see these signals
Verification badges appear once a response reaches an active match — reviewing a supplier's response to your purchase request, or a buyer's request matched to your product — not before:
- A "Verified" company badge appears next to the counterparty's name only when registration verification is confirmed. Not-submitted, pending, and rejected submissions all look the same from the outside: no badge. Its absence does not mean a submission was rejected — most companies simply have not submitted one.
- A verified website is shown as a clickable link with a "Website verified" badge; an unverified website is still displayed, as plain text, with a "Website unverified" badge.
This is symmetric: suppliers see a buyer's badges when reviewing a matched request, and buyers see a supplier's badges when reviewing a supply offer.
What ChemAbout does not verify
Registration and website verification confirm two narrow facts: that a claimed business registration was checked, and that a claimed website is controlled by the company. They do not confirm:
- product quality, authenticity, or fitness for a specific use
- actual capacity or ability to deliver at the volume discussed
- licensing, permits, or import/export compliance beyond the chemical screening already applied
- creditworthiness, ability to pay, or general business legitimacy

Using these signals
Treat registration and website verification as one input, not a final answer: they tell you a specific claim was independently checked, not that the deal is risk-free. Because both checks are optional, an unverified counterparty is not necessarily less legitimate — only unconfirmed. For deals where the volume or risk warrants it, checking a counterparty's registration directly against its home jurisdiction's own registry remains something you can do independently of what ChemAbout shows.
