Bupropion, formerly known as amfebutamone, is an atypical antidepressant used in the treatment of major depressive disorder and seasonal affective disorder, as well as to support smoking cessation. It functions as a norepinephrine–dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI) and is recommended as a first-line option in some evidence-based guidelines.
