Melanotan II is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide and an analogue of the naturally occurring hormone α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It is used in research to stimulate melanogenesis, the process of pigment production in the skin, and has been investigated for its effects on melanin synthesis and sexual arousal.
