Galanin is a neuropeptide encoded by the GAL gene, widely expressed in the brain, spinal cord, and gut of humans and other mammals. It signals through three G protein-coupled receptors and is used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient in research and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
