Piretanide

Piretanide is a loop diuretic active pharmaceutical ingredient developed from a novel synthetic method for introducing cyclic amine residues into an aromatic nucleus. Studies in animals indicated a favorable dose-response profile and sodium/potassium excretion ratio compared to other high-ceiling diuretics, leading to its introduction as a saluretic and antihypertensive medication in several European countries.
