2-Nitro-5-(phenylthio)aniline is an agrochemical compound used as a herbicide intermediate. It is structurally related to the diphenyl ether herbicide aclonifen, which has been used in agriculture since the 1980s and is believed to interfere with carotenoid biosynthesis or inhibit protoporphyrinogen oxidase, leading to bleaching effects in plants.
