ddATP is a dideoxynucleotide triphosphate, a synthetic analog of natural ATP, that acts as a chain-terminating inhibitor of DNA polymerase. It is a key reagent in the Sanger method of DNA sequencing, where its incorporation into a growing DNA strand prevents further elongation.
