Lexidronam is a phosphonate analog of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) with chelating activity. It binds to hydroxyapatite crystals in areas of bone turnover and has been used as a radiopharmaceutical in complexes with radioactive metals to selectively target osteoblastic bone metastases.
