DL-threo-beta-Methylaspartic acid is a research reagent used in peptide synthesis. It is an unusual amino acid that can be metabolized by methylaspartate ammonia-lyase and is found in the structures of certain antibiotics as well as in carbon metabolism of haloarchaea.
