Abacavir 5'-carboxylic acid is a monocarboxylic acid oxidation product of abacavir, where the C-5' hydroxymethyl group is oxidized to a carboxy group. It is one of the two major metabolites of abacavir in humans and is used as a pharmaceutical metabolite reference standard.
