2-Acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid is a reactive, hydrophilic sulfonic acid acrylic monomer used to modify the properties of anionic polymers. Originally trademarked as AMPS by The Lubrizol Corporation, it was first patented in the 1970s for use in acrylic fiber manufacturing.
