2,6,10,15,19,23-Hexamethyltetracosane, commonly known as squalane, is a saturated hydrocarbon used primarily as a lubricant and cosmetic ingredient. It is produced commercially by the direct hydrogenation of shark liver oil and is also permitted for use as an inert ingredient in non-food pesticide products.
